Zen is a type of Buddhism that is focused on meditation and understanding that the world is temporary. In Zen Buddhism, a person progresses gradually through different ranks or levels. These ranks help a person understand their place in the spiritual world and help them understand the path to enlightenment.
Each rank in Zen Buddhism has a name and title that shows you are learning more and progressing. The highest level is called Zen Master and is the highest level of Zen learning. Under Zen Master there are Zen Teachers, who teach others how to practice Zen. Then there is a level called Dharma Heir, who are very knowledgeable in Zen learning and are ready to teach. Following Dharma Heir are Zen Preceptors and Zen Practitioners, who are still learning and developing their spiritual practice.
