ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Afro-Spaniards are people in Spain who have ancestors that come from Africa. Some of them were born in Spain and grew up there, while others moved to Spain from Africa or other countries.

Just like how people come in different sizes, shapes, and colors, Afro-Spaniards also look different from one another. Some have dark skin, while others have lighter skin. They also have different cultures, languages, and traditions depending on where their ancestors come from in Africa.

Unfortunately, just like in other parts of the world, Afro-Spaniards have faced discrimination and prejudice because of their skin color and African heritage. This can make it harder for them to find jobs, get an education, and feel accepted by their communities.

But things are changing, and more people are recognizing the contributions and value of Afro-Spaniards in Spanish society. There are now more organizations and initiatives that celebrate their culture and promote equality for all.
