ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

dissection

Dissection is when we take apart something to see what it is made of and how it works. It's like playing with your toy car and taking out the wheels to see how they spin. But instead of a toy car, we do this with animals and plants!

We have a special tool called a scalpel that helps us cut into things without damaging them. We use it to carefully cut into the animal or plant to see all the different parts inside. We can learn a lot from dissecting! We can see how the organs work, how the species is adapted to their environment, and how they are different from other species.

We have to be very careful when we do dissection, and we have to use special equipment and follow rules to make sure the animal or plant is respected. When we are done, we can put all the parts back together or keep them for further study to learn even more!
