ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

gpl license

GPL stands for 'GNU General Public License'. A GPL license is like a permission from the creator of a computer program, allowing you to use the program freely, modify it and share it with others. So, if you are given a program with a GPL, it means that the creator is giving you permission to use the program as you wish, as long as you do not sell it and share it with others. Basically, it's like a way of saying "you can use and play with this program, as long as you share what you make with it with everyone else".
