An eye works like a camera. Light comes in through the clear front of the eye, called the cornea. The light then passes through the pupil, which is the dark opening in the center of the eye. After passing through the pupil, the light travels through the lens. The lens focuses the light onto the back of the eye, called the retina. The light is converted into electric signals and sent down the optic nerve to the brain, where the brain interprets these signals to make a picture of what you are seeing.
