how do microwaves work

Microwaves are special kinds of waves that are really good at making things warm. They travel around in the air just like radio waves or light. Your microwave has a big magnet inside it that makes microwaves move around really fast. When the microwaves bump into the food in your microwave, they make the water and fat molecules inside the food vibrate really fast which makes the food hot. That's how your microwave warms up your food.
