how related are dogs and wolves

Dogs and wolves are both animals in the same family, called Canidae. This means that they are related and look very similar to each other. Wolves were one of the first animals that people kept as pets and eventually bred to create different types of dogs. All dogs (big and small) are related to wild wolves, even though they look very different now.
