how rockets work

Imagine that you are inside a balloon. When you blow up a balloon it gets more and more full of air until it can't hold any more air, so then it pops.

Rockets work the same way. They have a chamber that is filled with a special kind of fuel and some oxygen. When you light the fuel, it starts burning and pushing out hot gases. The hot gases pushing out the back of the rocket are what make it move forward. The more fuel and oxygen, the bigger the push, so the faster it can go.

The other part of a rocket is its fins. These are the pointed edges at the end of a rocket. When they are pointed in the right direction, they help control where the rocket goes by changing the direction of the hot gas as it comes out.

So when you launch a rocket, the hot gases push the rocket up and out of the atmosphere. The further away it goes, the less gravity it feels. This makes it able to travel much faster.

That's a quick explanation of how rockets work!
