An inductor is a type of electrical component made up of a coil or loop of wire, and it is used to store electrical energy. When electricity is passed through the coil of wire, it creates a magnetic field which stores the energy. The inductor can then be used like a battery, to release the energy slowly. The size of the inductor usually determines how much energy it can store.
