Chess is a board game that two players play against each other. Each player has a set of pieces they can move on the board. The object of the game is to try to capture your opponent's king piece. Each piece moves in different ways, like the rook moves straight across the board, the knight moves in an L shape and the queen can move any number of spaces in any direction. The first player to checkmate their opponent wins the game. Checkmate is when the king is in a position where it can't move away from being captured by the other player.
