ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

radio waves

Radio waves are a type of energy that folds in and out like a wave. They are made when electricity passes through an antenna, which is like a long metal stick wired up to a box. When the electricity passes through the antenna, it creates a wave of energy. That wave then travels through the air, like a beach wave curling away from the beach. You can't see or touch these waves, but when it passes through the air, it can be detected by radios and TVs. We use radio waves to send sound and images over long distances. Radio waves can make our lives easier in many ways. They help us communicate with each other, listen to music, watch TV, and much more!
