RFC stands for 'Request for Comment'. It's a document that someone can send to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which is a group of people who make sure the Internet works properly. The document helps people decide on a certain protocol or policy for the Internet that everybody agrees on. They usually explain the problem, what needs to be fixed, and how it should be done.
