surplus

Surplus is what is left over when you have more of something than you need. For example, if you go to the store and buy 10 apples, but you only need 8, the 2 apples left are your surplus. It's like when you have too much money in your piggy bank and can't fit any more coins inside - that extra money is your surplus!
