A time zone is a region that has its own time, usually based on the position of the sun in that region. Different parts of the world have their own time zones because the amount of daylight in each place can be different. For example, it might be noon in London, England, but still be only 11:00 in Tokyo, Japan. By having different time zones, it can be easier for people to know when it's morning or afternoon in different places.
