Farts smell because of the gas that comes out of your body when you fart. The gas is made up of tiny particles of different things, like smelly liquids and gases from the food you eat. Different gases and particles make different smells, like rotten eggs, skunks, and rotten cabbage. When the gases and particles mix together, it makes a smelly fart.
