Bilby tower

A bilby tower is a clever way to help a special kind of animal called a bilby. Bilbies are small, furry creatures that live in Australia. They are very important because they eat lots of things that could hurt other animals, like pesky insects and harmful plants.

But bilbies have a big problem. They are easy targets for other animals that want to eat them, like foxes and cats. That's where the bilby tower comes in.

The bilby tower is like a small house on stilts. It is high above the ground, so predators can't reach the bilbies inside. The tower is designed to look like a termite mound, which is a favorite hiding spot for bilbies in the wild. The bilbies can climb up a ramp inside the tower to get in and out.

But the bilby tower isn't just a shelter. It's also a safe place for bilbies to raise their babies, called joeys. Baby bilbies are very small and need protection from predators until they are big enough to fend for themselves. The bilby tower has special nesting areas where mom and baby can snuggle up together.

The best part of the bilby tower is that it is helping to save these amazing animals from extinction. Bilbies are a threatened species, which means there aren't very many left in the wild. Building bilby towers is one way people are working to keep these important creatures around for a long time.
