Constructivist epistemology

Constructivist epistemology is a way of understanding how people know things. It says that our understanding of the world is based on our experiences and interpretations of it. Instead of simply acquiring knowledge by being shown or told things, constructivist epistemology says that we construct knowledge ourselves by actively exploring the world and making meaning out of our experiences. In this way we build up our understanding of the world bit by bit.
