ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Data anonymization

Data anonymization is a way to keep things safe when we want to share information about people. Imagine you have a secret toy that you want to show to your friends, but you don't want them to know whose toy it is.

Anonymization works kind of like that. If we have a list of names and we want to share that list with someone else, we don't want to give away any secrets or personal information. So, we might change the names on the list to make them seem different.

For example, if we have a list of names like Anna, Bob, and Charlie, we might change their names to Apple, Banana, and Cherry. These names are still easy to remember, but they don't give away any personal information.

Anonymization can also involve removing other personal information, like a person's birthday, address, or email. This way, even if someone gets the list of names, they can't find out anything else about the people on the list.

Overall, data anonymization is a way to share information without giving away any secrets or personal information. It's kind of like showing your toy to your friends, but making it seem like a different toy so they don't know it's yours.
