ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Distributed operating system

A distributed operating system is a type of operating system that is spread out over two or more computers. It acts like one computer, but the different parts are located on different devices. All of the different parts work together to run programs and do other tasks, like keeping track of data. It works like normal operating systems, but instead of all the programs and data being stored on one computer, it is spread out across several devices.
