ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Double-slit experiment

The double-slit experiment is a fun experiment that helps us understand how light behaves. To do this experiment, you need two thin slits (like two narrow doors side-by-side). Then you need a screen that is a little bit further away. To start the experiment, you shine a light through both slits, and it makes an interesting pattern on the screen: a pattern of bright and dark spots arranged in a line. What the experiment shows is that the light isn't behaving like ordinary objects which would just pass through one slit, but it behaves strangely. When light goes through both slits, it interacts with itself and makes the pattern on the screen. It's really neat!
