ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Enactivism

Enactivism is a philosophical way of looking at the world that suggests that all living things are active agents who are constantly modifying their environment to help them better survive. This means that living things aren't just passive observers of their environment, they can actively impact their surroundings. For example, if a plant needs more sunlight, it can spread its leaves to capture more rays. If a bird needs food, it can search around for insects and flies. By acting in this way, both plants and animals are enacting change in their environment to better fit their needs!
