Excommunication

Excommunication is when someone is kicked out of a church. Think of it like when you get kicked out of a group of your friends that play together. It's when the church decides that someone has done something so bad, like breaking a rule, that they won't let that person be part of the church anymore. That person can't take part in special church activities or go to church anymore. They aren't allowed to be part of the faith and have to find their own way without it.
