ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Great Awakening

The Great Awakening was a time in the 1700s when many people in the United States changed their beliefs about religion. People began to have a newfound faith and drawn to evangelicalism (a form of Christianity that focuses heavily on emotion, individual conversion, and activism). The movement spread quickly and was one of the most important religious events in American history. It had a huge impact on how we think about religion and our freedom to believe differently than others.
