why did romance languages develop articles when latin has none

Romance languages are languages that came from Latin, like Spanish and French. Latin did not have articles, which are special words like "the" or "a". Romance languages added articles because they wanted to make their language more clear. For example, if someone says "teacher," it is not clear if they are talking about "a teacher" or "the teacher". But if someone says "the teacher," it is clear that they are talking about the person who is a teacher at their school. Adding the article "the" helps people talk about people and things more clearly.
