Honour killing

Honour killing is when someone kills another person, usually a family member, because they believe that person has done something that brings shame or dishonour to their family or community.

The people who commit honour killings often believe that their actions are justified to restore the family's honour. Some common reasons for honour killings are when a family member is accused of having sex before marriage or marrying someone from a different social group, religion or caste.

This might seem really unfair and wrong to you, and it is. In some countries or cultures, family honour is given a lot of importance, and some people believe that they have the right to take someone's life to protect it. However, this behavior is illegal in many countries and it goes against the basic principles of human rights and justice.
