House arrest

House arrest is when someone has to stay at their home instead of going to jail as punishment for something they have done. This means that the person can't leave their home for anything, unless it has been approved by the court or their probation officer. They might have to wear a special device that monitors them and makes sure they stay in their home, or they could have to check in with the police regularly. It can sometimes last for days, weeks, or even months.
