ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Image sensor format

An image sensor format is the size of the photos that your camera takes. Different cameras have different sized image sensors, and the most common sizes are called Full-Frame, APS-C, and Micro Four Thirds. When you look through the viewfinder of your camera, you see a rectangle that shows you what your camera will capture as an image. The size of that rectangle is the image sensor format. The bigger the rectangle, the more of the scene you will be able to capture.
