Digital versus film photography

Digital photography is like taking pictures with a special kind of camera that stores the photos on a computer chip instead of on a film strip. It's like taking a picture with your phone, but with a fancier camera.

Film photography is like taking pictures with an old-fashioned camera that uses a roll of film. You have to put the film in the camera, take the picture, then take it out to get developed at a special shop. It's like taking a picture with a disposable camera you might get on vacation.

Both kinds of photography are good, but they work differently. Digital photos can be seen right away on a screen and you can take a lot of pictures without running out of film. Film photos take more time to see and you can only take so many pictures before you need to get more film.

Some people like the way film photos look better than digital photos because they have a special grainy or vintage look. But others prefer digital photos because they can be edited and shared online more easily. It's important to choose the kind of photography that you like best!
