ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Limited animation

Limited animation is like when you draw a picture and instead of making it move a lot like a cartoon, just some parts of the picture move, but not all of them. It's like when you make a flip book and only some parts of the pictures change very slightly, so it looks like the picture is moving, even though it's not moving a lot.

Imagine you drew a picture of a dog and decided to make a cartoon movie with it. When you make a limited animation, you would only make the dog's legs move and not his whole body. That way, you don't have to draw every single frame of the dog's movement, and the cartoon is easier and faster to make. It's like you are making a shortcut.

Limited animation is a fun and creative way to make cartoons and movies because you can still tell a story and show different expressions on the character's faces, without having to draw every single detail in the cartoon.
