Overpopulation in companion animals

When a mommy dog or cat has babies, they can have a lot of them at once! Sometimes people don't have the money or the space to take care of all these babies, so they give them away or take them to animal shelters. But sometimes there are too many babies and not enough people who want to adopt them, so they have to stay in the shelter for a long time or even their whole life. This can be sad for the animals and for the people who work at the shelter. So we need to make sure that dogs and cats don't have too many babies, or that people are responsible and take care of the babies they have. This way, we can try to keep the number of animals in shelters from getting too big.
