Roadkill

Roadkill is what happens when animals are hit by cars while they are trying to cross the road. Imagine you're walking across the street, and a car comes out of nowhere and bumps into you. It can be very scary and painful, right? The same thing happens to animals that try to cross the road.

You know how some animals like to live in forests, grasslands, or near water? Well, sometimes they need to cross a road to find food, water, or shelter. When they do, they might not see cars coming, or they might misjudge how fast they're going. This means that they can get hit by a car.

When an animal gets hit by a car, it can die right away, or it can get hurt badly and die later on. We call these animals roadkill. It's sad because they didn't mean to get hurt, but it happens a lot. That's why it's important to be careful when driving on roads, especially in areas where animals are known to cross.
