ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

State media

State media is what some governments use to communicate information to the people who live in their country. It can be through television, radio and newspapers. It is like a way for governments to tell the people what is going on and what their government is doing. Like if something important is happening or the government has made a policy that affects people, state media can be used to keep everyone informed. Even though the government controls this media, the people still have the option to listen to independent media sources.
