Sustainable urban drainage systems

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) help cities manage how much rainwater the city is dealing with. Most cities have streets, buildings, and other surfaces that don't allow rainwater to soak into the ground, which can cause flooding. SUDS are designed to help control this by creating places for the water to go without causing problems. For example, they include things like rain gardens, which are hollow places in the ground filled with rocks and soil, and they allow the rainwater to easily flow out. They also have systems that catch and store the water in tanks, so that it can slowly be released back into the environment.
