The Dunning–Kruger effect is when people think they know more than they really do and make decisions without enough knowledge. It's like when a five-year-old might think they know enough to play a game their older siblings play, like chess. They might think they can win because they can move the pieces around, but then when the game gets more complicated, they get confused because they don't understand the complete rules or strategies. The same thing happens with adults. They might think they know enough about something to make a decision, but it turns out that their decision was not the best because they don't have enough knowledge or experience.
