Transformers are machines that can change the amount of electricity running through them. They do this by changing the strength of a magnetic field inside the transformer. This magnetic field is created by winding wire around two sets of metal pieces called coils. When electricity runs through one coil, it creates a magnetic field. When electricity then runs through the second coil, it responds to the magnetic field from the first coil, and the electricity is changed. This is how transformers are able to transform the amount of electricity that is running through them.
