ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

100-ton gun

Have you ever played with a toy gun? A 100-ton gun is like a really BIG version of that toy. But instead of shooting little foam darts, it can shoot really big things really far away, like giant bullets or even bombs!

A 100-ton gun is called that because it weighs a REALLY big amount, 100 tons! That's like the weight of 50 small cars all stacked on top of each other.

This giant gun usually sits on a big platform called a turret, and it can rotate, or turn around, to aim at different targets. Imagine a giant toy gun that can spin around 360 degrees like a top to point at anything it wants to shoot at.

And when it's time to fire, a crew of people will load the big bullets or bombs into the gun and then light a really big fuse. The explosion from the fuse will shoot the bullet or bomb out of the gun at super high speeds!

But don't worry, nobody actually shoots people with a 100-ton gun. It's mostly used for big tests or for really far away targets that nobody can reach with a regular gun.
