A database administrator (or "DBA") is like a super librarian for computers. They take care of all the databases which are like libraries of information for computers. DBAs make sure that everything in the database works so that when people use it, it runs smoothly and quickly. They also back up the data regularly so that if something happens to the database, the information inside can still be retrieved. They also work to make sure the database is secure, so that no one can get their hands on the data without permission.
