ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

180-line television system

Okay sweetie, do you know what a TV is? It's a big box that shows us pictures and movies. Now, back in the olden days, TVs didn't show very good pictures. They only had 180 lines on the screen.

Think of a line like a row of dots. There were only 180 rows of dots on the TV screen, which means the pictures looked really blurry and not very clear.

But people still liked watching TV even though the pictures weren't great. Over time, TVs got better and better and now we have TVs with thousands of lines on the screen, which makes the pictures look super clear!

So, in short, the 180-line television system was an early version of TV technology that didn't have very good picture quality. But don't worry, now we have much better TVs with way more lines on the screen.
