1900 Hoboken Docks fire

A long time ago in the year 1900, there was a big fire that happened in a place called Hoboken Docks. This place was where big ships would come in and take things like food and toys and clothes to different places all over the world.

The fire started in a building that had a lot of flammable things inside, like wood and oil. It got really hot and spread really fast to other buildings that were nearby. These buildings were also full of things that could catch on fire easily.

People who lived and worked near the Hoboken Docks saw the fire and called for help. The firefighters came with their trucks and hoses, but the fire was too big and it was hard to put out. It was so big that people could see the smoke from far away.

The fire lasted for a whole day and destroyed many of the buildings in the Hoboken Docks. Lots of people lost their homes and their jobs because of the fire. It was really sad.

But even though the fire was very bad, it taught people the importance of being careful with things that can start fires, so that something like this doesn't happen again in the future.
