1913 Great Meteor Procession

Okay, so you know how sometimes there are rocks in space? Yes? And these rocks are called meteors. Well, in 1913, there was a really big group of meteors that entered Earth's atmosphere. So, you know how when you take a toy car and you slide it really fast on the ground, it starts to create a trail of dust behind it? That's kind of what happened with these meteors.

As they entered the Earth's atmosphere, they started to burn up and created a trail of bright light behind them. It was like a sparkly parade in the sky! People all over the world could see it, and they were really amazed by how beautiful it looked. The procession (that means a group of things moving together in a line) lasted for several hours, and it looked like there were hundreds of meteors all moving together in the sky.

Scientists studied the meteor procession and learned a lot about meteors and their properties. They could tell how fast they were moving, how hot they were getting, and what they were made of. It was a really exciting event that people still talk about today.
