Okay kiddo, imagine there are two groups of people in Spain. One group is called the Left and they want things to be fairer for everyone, while the other group is called the Right and they want things to stay the same.
In 1936, they had an election to choose which group would run the country. The Left won, but the Right didn't like it and decided to start a war to take over.
It was a really big and bad war and lots of people got hurt. In the end, the Left won and they were happy because they could make things better for everyone in Spain. But it took a long time for things to go back to normal.
