1939–1940 Winter Offensive

During the winter of 1939-1940, some countries wanted to fight against Germany because they were doing bad things like invading other countries. One of those countries was called the Soviet Union, and they wanted to fight against Germany too.

So, they decided to attack Germany in the winter during a time when they were not expecting it. This is called a "winter offensive". The Soviet Union sent their army to the border between the two countries, and they started to fight against the German soldiers.

The weather was very cold and snowy, which made it really hard for the soldiers to move around and fight. The Soviet Union soldiers were also not very prepared for the cold winter weather, so they had a hard time too.

The fighting lasted for a few months, but eventually, the Soviet Union had to stop the offensive because they weren't able to win. They lost a lot of soldiers and resources during the fighting, which made it hard for them to keep fighting.

Overall, the 1939-1940 winter offensive was a time when the Soviet Union tried to attack Germany in the winter to surprise them. They fought for a few months but eventually had to stop because they weren't able to win due to the cold weather and lack of resources.
