mathematical series

Mathematical series is a way to describe a pattern using numbers. Each number in a series is called a "term". A series is usually made up of a pattern that continues to repeat over and over again. For example, the series 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 would be called an "odd number series" because it only has odd numbers (numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9).
