1944 Bulgarian coup d'état

Okay kiddo, in 1944, Bulgaria was ruled by a man named King Boris III. However, he passed away suddenly and his son, Simeon II, who was only six years old, became king.

This meant that the government was being run by some other people until Simeon II grew up and could rule the country himself. But some of these people were not very good leaders and the Bulgarian people were unhappy with them.

So, a group of Bulgarian communists decided to stage a coup d'état, which means they took control of the government by force. They wanted to create a communist government, which is a type of government where everyone is equal and the government controls everything.

The communists were able to take over pretty easily because the government leaders were weak and there was already a lot of unrest in the country. They arrested the government leaders and took control of the country.

Some people were happy about this because they believed that the communist government would make things better for everyone, but other people were not happy because they did not agree with communism.

So, in short, the 1944 Bulgarian coup d'état was when a group of communists took over the government of Bulgaria by force, which led to the creation of a communist government in Bulgaria.
