1948 in poetry

Okay kiddo, so in 1948, there were lots of people who wrote poems. Some poems were happy, some were sad, and some were about things that were happening in the world.

One really famous poet from that time was named T.S. Eliot. He wrote a poem called "The Four Quartets" which talked about things like time, memory, and faith. People thought it was really deep and meaningful.

Another poet named W.H. Auden wrote a famous poem called "In Memory of W.B. Yeats". Yeats was another famous poet who had died that year, so Auden wrote a poem to remember him and his work.

There were also lots of poets from different countries who wrote about their experiences living through big changes like World War II and becoming independent from their colonizers. It was a time where people were thinking a lot about their place in the world and trying to make sense of everything that was happening.

So in 1948, poetry was a really important way for people to express themselves and make sense of the world around them.
