In 1968, people in Senegal had had enough of their government and the way they were treated. They decided to stand up and fight for their rights which started with a big protest. People of all ages, even kids, started to march in the streets and shout things like, "Down with Diouf!", which meant they wanted the current president to leave office. They also wanted to end unfair treatment, better education, and to have more freedom. To show everyone how serious they were, they broke windows and set fire to buildings. Eventually, the government stopped the protests, but it showed the world that Senegal was ready to make a change.
