So imagine one day, a really really big storm came to a lot of places in the United States, like all at the same time. This storm was so big and so strong that it had winds that could knock down big trees and make it really hard for people to go outside and walk around.
It also had a lot of snow and ice that fell from the sky, which covered everything and made it really hard for people to get around in cars or buses. The snow was so deep in some places that it reached up to your tummy!
This storm lasted for a few days and caused a lot of damage to buildings, like roofs that got torn off and windows that broke. Some people also lost power in their houses and had to use flashlights or candles to see at night.
It was called the "storm of the century" because it was one of the biggest and most severe storms that had happened in a hundred years. But people did their best to stay safe and help each other during the storm, and eventually it passed and everything went back to normal.
