2 Kings 24

Okay kiddo, so in the Bible, there are stories about different kings who ruled over Israel a long, long time ago. One of these stories is about a king named Jehoiakim who was ruling in Jerusalem.

Now, Jehoiakim didn't always follow what God wanted him to do. He did things that were bad and didn't believe in God's ways. So, God sent some enemies from a place called Babylon to defeat Jerusalem and take the people as captives.

These enemies, led by a king named Nebuchadnezzar, took some of the people from Jerusalem and the temple treasures to Babylon. Jehoiakim was actually killed by Nebuchadnezzar's army.

After Jehoiakim died, his son Jehoiachin became the king of Judah. However, he only ruled for a short time because Nebuchadnezzar didn't like him either. So he and many others were taken to Babylon as captives.

Finally, Nebuchadnezzar made a man named Zedekiah the king of Judah. But, like his father and brother, Zedekiah didn't obey God's ways either. He also didn't listen to a prophet named Jeremiah who warned him that bad things would happen if he didn't change his ways.

Sure enough, a few years later, Babylon came back and attacked Jerusalem again. They destroyed the city and burned down the temple. Zedekiah was captured and taken to Babylon as a prisoner.

So, that's the story of 2 Kings 24 - it's about how God punished kings who didn't follow His ways and how Babylon took over Jerusalem as a result. But it's also a reminder that even when we mess up, God is always there to help us turn things around and make things right.
