2019 Canada Day Honours

Ok kiddo, so Canada Day Honours is kind of like a big ceremony where important people get awarded for doing really good things for Canada. It's like a special sticker or medal for grown-ups who are really awesome.

There are different kinds of awards, but some of them are Officer of the Order of Canada and Order of Military Merit. These are like fancy titles that mean you did something really great for Canada. Some people get them for being really good doctors, or for helping the environment, or for being really good at sports.

The ceremony happens on Canada Day, which is a really big day for Canadians because it's when we celebrate our country. People dress up really nice and go to fancy places to watch the awards happen. It's kind of like when you get to wear your favourite dress or suit to a party.

The awards are really important because they show us that we have really awesome people in our country who are working hard to make it a better place. It's like saying "thank you" to them in a really special way.
