2023 in public domain

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes people create things like books or movies or music? Well, those things are called "copyrighted works" and it means that only the person who made it, or the company that they work with, can decide who gets to use it or make copies of it.

But sometimes, after a certain amount of time has passed, those works become "public domain." That means that anyone can use them, copy them, or even sell them without needing permission from the person who made them or their company.

In the year 2023, some copyright laws will expire and certain works will become part of the public domain. That means that people can use those works in lots of different ways without needing to pay for it or get permission.

Some examples of things that will become part of the public domain in 2023 include books like "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran and "The Murder on the Links" by Agatha Christie, as well as songs like "Charleston" by James P. Johnson and "Yes, We Have No Bananas" by Frank Silver and Irving Cohn.

So basically, 2023 is a year when some cool things that people made a long time ago will be free for everyone to use and enjoy!
